What I'm Offering
As a
small businessman, I knew there were new customers I was not getting because I didn't have a
website. Although I recognised the need for a website I
really didn't know where to start: I was a small business, a 'one man
band', (well, with my wife as a part time admin assistant) and I certainly
couldn't afford the very fancy prices that professional website building
companies were charging. A grateful client with considerable
computer skills designed my first practice site for free. If you
are a small business, (I see that as meaning around half a dozen
employees maximum--if you're bigger than that, let's talk about it) maybe
I can do the same for you. So here is what I suggest.
I find building websites great fun--a really absorbing hobby, and a great
change from working as a therapist.
Have a look at the two completed websites 1 and 2 by clicking the links
on the left. Take the tour of the example pages, by clicking the 'Take the Tour' link on the left. If
you think you might want a website designed for free then email
me, and, with no commitment on either side, let's talk!
If we both decide to work together, I will:
- Design with you a website
that really reflects and promotes the advantages to customers
of coming to your business
- Decide with you the
domain name you want for your site and acquire it (it
always looks more professional that way. My therapy practice
site is at
"www.helpishere.co.uk"
which looks a lot better than
"www.freewebspace.Igotthisforfree.com")
- Once we are both happy
with your website, I'll arrange for it to be hosted on the computer
of a reputable Internet Service Provider.
- If you have an email
address, I'll arrange for all email sent to anyone@thedomainwechose
to be diverted to your existing email address
- Arrange for your website
to be submitted to around 200 different search engines, so that
people can find you. (I have to pay around £20 for this, so I
will ask you to reimburse me)
- Give you the free use of
the website for 6 months!
What do I ask in exchange?
I ask you to really
try the site out. That means including your site address in all
your advertising, and maybe asking new customers where they heard about
you. (I advertise in Yellow Pages, along with many
competitors. Many new clients say they chose me out of them all
because I was the only one with a website address in the advert, and they
visited the site to find out more, then phoned me.)
Once we are both happy with the website and you have started to use it, I
will charge you for any alterations or changes you ask for. (£15
for a simple changes in text on a page, more for larger changes, like
extensive text changes, adding whole new pages, or major changes in
graphics.)
At the end of 6 months, if you don't want to keep the site, that's
fine--hopefully we both had some fun working on the project, and we can
close the site. I enjoyed myself, and that's all I want.
If, at the end of the 6 months you want to keep the site, I'll charge you
rent for it. At present, the rent charge is £20 per month--that's
less than a small ad in the paper!
I hope you enjoy the rest of the site - the 'tour' of example web pages
changes often, so you may want to 'take the tour' if you have not yet
done so...
